Spilling Open

This isn’t over… the page or the process of spilling open. But I wanted to capture the simple beauty of emotion on a background of words about battle.

This altered antique book, “The Battle is the Pay-Off” is now one of my favorite journals ever. My collection of antique books will now get a lot more use when I graduate from this journal into another antique altered book. There is something less intimidating about taking an old book and giving it new life, than taking a new journal and making something of it. The bar is set lower when the book has already served its primary purpose. Now it gets a new lease on life and I get less pressure to create something of note.

I particularly liked this image of the altered book in contrast to the smooth silver tech products above it. Maintaining an analog journaling practice keeps me grounded… and I need that. I think we all do.
