You cannot cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water.
Asking a reader and writer to choose one favorite quote is like asking a chef to choose only one spice to put in their signature dish. It is an impossibility.
So I will not say this is the favorite but merely one of 1000 beautiful strings of words authors, readers, friends, and lovers have shared to inspire the world with the ideas that crossed their mind.
Today this quote reminds me that the books on my shelf will not pack themselves and the clothes in my closet will not self-select for my nomadic adventures. I must be the one taking action every day toward my new life as a global nomad.
As hard as the choices may be, as painful as the goodbyes I imagine, I cannot get to the other side of my dream life by standing and staring at what still remains.
I’ve fallen in love with the April Love photo challenge this year. Something about it has me more inspired and captivated than ever before. Perhaps it’s the inspiring images, perhaps the photo prompts, perhaps the call to slow down and think about what you are capturing… or perhaps it’s something as simple as the beautiful people participating.
It’s probably some lovely amalgam of all the above and that suits me just fine. The amalgam of top posts just so happens to start off with mine. I may not understand the Instagram algorithm or the reasoning why, but I am honored my Norwegian image made it to the top.
